Little Blue

Little Blue has been a focus of much attention and "repair" work to put her on the road to recovery after enduring neglect that may have been ongoing for quite some time. Efforts to fund her excessive medical bills brought in $665 which was critically needed during a time of many dogs with extraordinary medical costs. We are grateful to those who were moved by the story of this 9 yo chihuahua who had a bleak future before coming into our shelter. All of Blue's medical needs including spay surgery have been met. She needs maintenance care of her ears, teeth and skin (flea allergy) to keep her on the road to wellness. She also needs an adopter who can offer a safe home with a lap or two for a very portable munchkin (8 lbs) who loves to be loved.

Featured Feline
Daisy came in with a litter, and we've no idea why she is the last one left, as she is a doll!  She is about 10 mos. old and you can tell by the photo she's a beauty!  She's fun and lovable, and would be a fabulous friend to young and old alike.
She is a lovely 1 year old tuxedo girl who has been at the shelter for 9 months, having arrived in March 2014. Day after day, Daisy sits patiently waiting for someone to want her. She is a quiet and undemanding cat who is happy to sit be companion and friend.

About Our Adoption Center

Say HI to our manager Kathi Torpy!

Our Adoption Center has wonderful staff & volunteers who keep things running smoothly. Manager Kathi Torpy keeps up with all administrative things in our humane society, helps out visitors, plus other things too numerous to mention! Jenny Mann is Senior Kennels Manager, caring for our cat, kitten and puppy room as well, and Chris Owens is our Kennel Manager. Our staff and volunteers are all wonderful people with big hearts, and they work tirelessly to make our Adoption Center pleasant, not only for our animals, but our visitors, too! We’ve long been known for having a very clean facility, and work very hard to keep it that way. But we want it to be a fun place, too!
Rest in Peace - our resident "manager" Otis... Crossed the Rainbow Bridge 2014.
We always appreciate your comments and suggestions! Ask at the Adoption Center about volunteer opportunities... Volunteers make it possible for us to help our pets.  And check out our Volunteers Corner!

$5.50 toward heartworm test ^ $10.00 toward feline leukemia test ^
* Georgia Law requires that your cat or dog have a rabies shot. If the pet already has a rabies shot, we will have a tag for you. If not, you will get it from your vet; just take your adoption certificate with you, & the vet will give you the tag.
** Most of our Adoption Center animals will already be spayed or neutered, but younger puppies, kittens, and some adults that recently came into the shelter will not be fixed. Because we do not have a veterinarian on site, we will give you a certificate to present to your vet for the surgery. We have a list of local vets that accept this certificate as full payment for the surgery, but if you choose to use your own and they charge more, you will be responsible for the difference. Some vets will charge additional fees for pain medication after the surgery. Speak to your vet about their policies. If there are any questions, call the Humane Society, or speak to your veterinarian.
^ Optional partial test costs (heartworm test for dogs or feline leukemia test for cats) are included in adoption price
